The Companies behind LNG Canada

LNG Canada is a joint venture among Shell, PetroChina, KOGAS and Mitsubishi, four companies that are global leaders in LNG, providing world-class technical expertise in producing, storing, shipping and selling natural gas, along with access to markets.

From the outset, LNG Canada worked to become the project of choice for British Columbia. Every decision we’ve made during the planning and design process has been done keeping safety, the environment, economic and community interests top-of-mind.

Our JV Participants include:

Shell — a global leader in LNG since 1964, helping to pioneer the LNG sector. Shell operates about 20% of the world’s LNG vessels and has LNG supply projects either in operation or under construction in ten countries.

PetroChina Company Limited — China’s largest oil and gas producer and supplier. PetroChina launched three LNG import facilities in China and is increasingly an investor in global unconventional gas production and LNG export facilities.

Korea Gas Corporation (KOGAS) — the world’s largest LNG importing company and South Korea’s principal LNG provider. KOGAS operates four LNG import terminals and a nation-wide pipeline network in South Korea, and other terminals in Asia and Mexico.

Mitsubishi Corporation — Japan’s largest trading company and handles about 34% of Japan’s LNG imports. Mitsubishi has been investing in LNG since 1969 and is in a joint venture position in nine LNG export investments globally, many in conjunction with Shell.
