Community Notification: Planned Flaring

LNG Canada advises that a planned flaring event will begin on January 14th and will result in intermittent flaring with a height of approximately 15 – 90 metres. The flaring event is expected to last for approximately 24 hours. We anticipate increased noise and visible emissions (black smoke) from the flare.

Flaring is a provincially regulated safety measure that ensures the controlled, efficient combustion of natural gas during specific operational phases. It is a critical part of safely operating a facility of this scale and is not expected to be routine during regular operation.
