Community Notification: Flaring

LNG Canada advises that an unplanned flaring event occurred yesterday, March 5^th, which resulted in a flare height of approximately 15 metres and lasted approximately 1.5 hours. A planned flaring event is also scheduled between March 7^th – 9^th and will last approximately 4–6 hours with a flare height of approximately 15 metres.

Flaring is a provincially regulated safety measure that ensures the controlled, efficient combustion of natural gas during specific operational phases. It is a critical part of safely operating a facility of this scale and is not expected to be routine during regular operation.
