Community Notification: Unplanned Flaring

LNG Canada advises that an unplanned flaring event occurred today, April 9th beginning at 12:18 p.m. and is expected to last approximately 24 hours. The flare height is expected to be approximately 10 – 15 metres with associated noise and visible emissions.

Flaring is a provincially regulated safety measure that ensures the controlled, efficient combustion of natural gas during specific operational phases. It is a critical part of safely operating a facility of this scale and is not expected to be routine during regular operation.
