Community Notification: Unplanned Flaring

Update: LNG Canada advises that the previously communicated unplanned flaring event has been extended and may continue until the end of the day on August 31, 2026. Intermittent flaring may occur, with an expected flare height of up to approximately 30 metres. Associated noise, visible emissions, and intermittent black smoke may also occur during transient operating conditions.

LNG Canada advises that an unplanned flaring event is ongoing and will continue from August 29 to August 30, with an expected flare height of approximately 60 metres. Associated noise and visible emissions may occur during this period.

Flaring is a provincially regulated safety measure that ensures the controlled, efficient combustion of natural gas during specific operational phases. It is a critical part of safely operating a facility of this scale and is not expected to be routine during regular operation.
