Our Approach to Community Investment

LNG Canada recognizes that the success of the communities in which we operate is fundamental to our success as an organization. By building meaningful relationships with community organizations, local government, and Indigenous communities, we are able to understand their needs and offer support through our Social Investment framework. This active, ongoing approach to engagement has allowed us to contribute to strategic initiatives in communities and in the region we call home.

Opportunities for Community Investment

We value our local communities and we’re always excited to give back to ensure the growth and sustainability for all residents. LNG Canada is proud to support a variety of initiatives that benefit neighboring communities.

We invest in programs and initiatives related to Community Growth & Leadership, Youth, Environment and Mental & Physical Wellbeing.

In 2024, LNG Canada kicked off a two-year sports sponsorship pilot to understand how it may complement the current social investment program. The sports sponsorship program includes three pillars:

  1. Teams competing at the Provincial level
  2. Local tournaments and competitions
  3. Removing barriers to youth in sports

Social Investment is focused on communities near our facility, which include Kitimat, Terrace and the surrounding Indigenous Communities. Groups and organizations that cannot be funded include:

  • Individuals or individual pursuits
  • For-profit organizations
  • Religious causes that do not serve the general public on a non-denominational basis
  • Private foundations
  • Fraternal and labour organizations/service clubs
  • Political parties or lobby group
  • Committees

LNG Canada reviews funding applications bi-monthly and provide responses shortly thereafter. If an application is approved, it can take up to 90 days to process depending on the nature of the request.
