Construction
A Pivotal Collaboration
A final investment decision was made in 2018 following years of technical design and collaboration with our business partners, community engagement, environmental assessments, reviews and permitting processes.
We worked with our Engineering, Procurement and Construction Contractor, JGC and Fluor Joint Venture (JFJV) to construct Phase 1 of our LNG facility. At peak, there were more than 9,400 highly skilled Canadians at the LNG Canada site in Kitimat.
The LNG Canada project loaded a first cargo for export in June 2025.
Sumgas Creek Restoration
We are restoring Sumgas Creek in Kitimat to a more natural state to enhance local habitat while improving public pathways and area enjoyment.

Phase 2
Phase 2 remains a key part of LNG Canada’s growth and competitiveness picture, something that our Joint Venture Participants look at with diligence.
Our competitiveness goes beyond cost and schedule, and includes a greenhouse gas (GHG) aspiration that maintains LNG Canada’s GHG intensity and allows us to produce lower-carbon energy to the world.
