A Pivotal Collaboration
A final investment decision was made in 2018 following years of technical design and collaboration with our business partners, community engagement, environmental assessments, reviews and permitting processes.
In the last five years, we’ve been working with our Engineering, Procurement and Construction Contractor, JGC and Fluor Joint Venture (JFJV) to construct our one-of-a-kind world-leading LNG facility. At its peak, there were almost 7,500 highly skilled Canadians working at the Kitimat worksite.
With construction moving safely and steadily towards completion, the LNG Canada project remains on track to deliver its first cargo by the middle of this decade.
The ongoing collaboration between LNG Canada and the JFJV team throughout the construction phase of the project will now bring it smoothly across the finish line.

Phase 2
Phase 2 remains a key part of LNG Canada’s growth and competitiveness picture, something that our Joint Venture Participants look at with diligence.
Our competitiveness goes beyond cost and schedule, and includes a greenhouse gas (GHG) aspiration that maintains LNG Canada’s world-best GHG intensity and allows us to deliver low-carbon energy for the world.
