International Energy Agency head highlights trend showing LNG growth as part of energy future

It might sound contradictory, but fossil fuels, namely liquefied natural gas, became central to a side discussion of the Clean Energy Ministerial and Mission Innovation conference this week in Vancouver.

The international event drew energy ministers and representatives from more than 25 countries to talk about advancing renewable energy and promoting low-carbon technologies.

In B.C., the Shell-led LNG Canada consortium’s decision to proceed with its $40-billion project on the northwest coast and northeast gas fields has put the fuel into the forefront in this country, with the support of governments at all levels.
